AMES, Ia. — There are accomplishments for teams, and there are accomplishments for programs.
Team achievements provide pride and joy, but they can be fleeting. The highs can burn off quickly, with the next game always coming to provide a new, seemingly more important challenge.
Program triumphs, though, are sturdier. They’re harder to come by, but they last longer and mean more.
By virtue of the 45-0 drubbing Iowa State put on Kansas State on Saturday at Jack Trice Stadium, the Cyclones are on the verge of boosting both their team and their program.
History awaits these Cyclones, if they can go and meet it.
“I think that probably was the best we’ve played,” wideout Xavier Hutchinson said of the Cyclones’ performance against the Wildcats. “The great part is I think we can still play a lot better. We still have a lot more room for growth.
