EUGENE — Ty Thompson was sitting at his locker at halftime last Saturday when Mario Cristobal came over.
“You ready?” Cristobal asked the true freshman quarterback, who naturally answered affirmatively.
Thompson proved his preparedness on the field, going 6 of 9 for 82 yards with two touchdowns while lead the Ducks on four scoring drives during the second half of last week’s 48-7 win over Stony Brook.
“Getting called upon coming out of half was an excitement I’ve never experienced before,” Thompson said. “You play high school ball and it’s real fun, but getting out there, getting your first snaps on a college football field was a lot of fun. We were pretty successful obviously we moved the ball down the field a few times. The team really took me under their wing, helped me.
