Texas hosted 5-star DT Bear Alexander on Wednesday


On Monday, Fort Worth Brewer defensive tackle Bear Alexander made a decision that sent shockwaves across the college football recruiting world by announcing his decommitment from the Georgia Bulldogs a little more than four months after making his pledge on National Signing Day.

So it was no surprise that the Texas Longhorns quickly made a move to get the 6’3, 325-pounder on campus, efforts that paid off on Wednesday when Alexander made his way to the Forty Acres to meet new head coach Steve Sarkisian and defensive line coach Bo Davis for the first time since they arrived in Austin.

The visit marked significant news for the Texas coaching staff as Sarkisian and his assistants chase a top-five recruiting class and the type of impact players who will help the Longhorns secure the Big 12 title that has eluded the program since 2009, as well as the program’s first College Football Playoff appearance.
