The Baltimore Orioles have left the country and are currently in Toronto Ontario, Canada to finish out the 2021 season. It made no difference on Friday, however, as the Orioles lost 6-4 to the Blue Jays. A spoiler role was not in the cards for the team.
The Blue Jays built a 6-0 lead after six innings before the Orioles attempted a comeback with a four run eighth inning. That comeback failed when the Blue Jays struck out the side in the 9th.
The eighth inning started with a Kelvin Gutierrez (1 for 4, 1 Run Scored, 1 RBI) homerun. Pat Valaika (1 for 4, 1 Run Scored, 2 RBI) homered following a Tyler Nevin (1 for 3, 1 double, 1 Run Scored, 2 RBI) walk. Cedric Mullins (0 for 3, 1 Run Scored) was hit by a pitch and eventually scored on a Trey Mancini (1 for 4, 1 RBI) single. A Pedro Severino (1 for 3) walk set the stage for Gutierrez to add to the run total. As the 10th batter of the inning he grounded out to third, ending the threat.
