Logan Webb is about to do something no Giants pitcher has ever done in Game 5 vs. Dodgers

At 24 years and 330 days old, Logan Webb is set to be the youngest pitcher in San Francisco Giants history to start a winner-take-all game.

Webb, who was on the mound for Game 1 of the NLDS vs. the Los Angeles Dodgers and pitched nearly eight scoreless innings, will start Game 5 of the series on Thursday night at Oracle Park after the Giants failed to close out the Dodgers in Game 4. Following the Game 4 defeat, both manager Gabe Kapler and catcher Buster Posey offered ringing endorsements of Webb.

“We can lean on the track record of the last four months,” Kapler said. “It’s a long time, it’s a lot of starts, and he had some starts in some huge games. It’s a totally rested and prepared and confident pitcher.”
