Lane Kiffin responds to news that Ed Orgeron will leave LSU after 2021 season

Lane Kiffin has a long history with outgoing LSU head coach Ed Orgeron, dating back to at least 2001 as the 2 men served together on Pete Carroll’s staff at USC.

Orgeron departed for Ole Miss after the 2004 season, but when Kiffin later ended up in the SEC himself as Tennessee’s head coach in 2009, he lured Orgeron from the New Orleans Saints — where the latter served as defensive line coach — to serve as associate head coach and recruiting coordinator while leading the Volunteers’ defensive line.

Upon Kiffin’s return to USC after the 2009 season, this time as head coach, he brought Orgeron back to Los Angeles as a member of his initial staff. Orgeron, of course, took over for Kiffin as interim head coach after Kiffin’s firing in 2013.
