Felipe Crespo is the answer to this trivia question: “Who was the Giants’ first hitter other than Barry Bonds to have a ‘Splash Hit’?” Crespo also is the answer to this trivia question: “Who was the Giants’ first hitter other than Barry Bonds to have two Splash Hits?”

The Giants moved into their bayside ballpark in 2000. Splash Hits are defined as home runs that land on the fly in McCovey Cove. Bonds had produced nine of his record 35 Splash Hits before Crespo, a switch-hitting utilityman who spent 1½ of his five big-league seasons with the Giants, delivered against Arizona on May 28, 2001. Crespo went deep into the deep again July 8, 2001, against Milwaukee.

Crespo’s Splash Hits were strikingly similar: Each came when he was pinch-hitting, and each enabled the Giants to tie a game in the late innings; his shot against the Diamondbacks made it 1-1 in the 10th, and his drive against the Brewers made it 4-4 in the ninth. The Giants wound up losing both games, 2-1 in 12 innings to Arizona and 6-4 in 13 to Milwaukee.
