Giants spring training observations: Final touches put on Scottsdale Stadium as fans return s Sunday

“Then we get to do the fun stuff — chalk the field, get ready for some baseball,” said Giants vice president of events Sara Grauf.

The team will have 750-1,000 fans on hand for the Cactus League opener against the Angels in a stadium that holds 12,000. The Giants are reserving the possibility of increasing attendance as the spring goes along based on how the first week or two of games goes.

The Giants will check with fans to see how their experience is at the current capacity, with informal surveys along with in-park observation about how the seating works. “We do a debrief with our staff every day,” Grauf said.

There will be no in-seat vending, all concessions purchases will be at counters, with no cash exchanged. The Charro Lodge deck will have assigned seating at tables with table service, with no wandering or congregating at the bar. There will be no lawn seating beyond the left-field wall.
