Dawgs247 has learned that sophomore wide receiver George Pickens is out for Georgia’s matchup at Kentucky on Saturday because he didn’t make the trip. Persons with knowledge of the situation say Pickens is dealing with an upper body injury.
The Bulldogs’ leading receiver in 2019 donned a black, non-contact jersey in practice this week and received most of his reps with the second team offense, but he did participate in practice. After Tuesday’s workout, Kirby Smart indicated that Pickens’ ailment was far from serious.
“George will be fine,” Smart said. “He’s in and out based on being dinged up a couple of times but we have a lot of guys that way. But he practiced yesterday.”
Pickens is UGA’s second leading receiver on the year with 13 grabs for 140 yards and two touchdowns. A year ago, as a freshman, he had 49 catches for 727 yards and eight scores.
