Fire at Concord Diner closes part of US Highway 29

CONCORD, N.C. (WBTV) – A diner in Concord caught fire, closing part of Highway 29 Wednesday morning and causing significant damage to the restaurant. No injuries were reported.
Officials say the fire broke out just before 5 a.m. at the Concord Diner on Sherwood Court, just off Concord Highway. US Highway 29 north and southbound is shut down from NC Highway 73 to Sherwood Court. Firefighters say they received multiple calls of flames coming through the roof of the diner.
“We have no indication that anyone was inside,” firefighters said. The roof of the restaurant sustained significant damage.
Fire and police responded are asking commuters to seek an alternate route. Concord Police tweeted about the fire around 5:15 a.m.
