City woman faces drug charges

An Altoona woman has been charged after police say she removed drug evidence from Cherry Avenue home.

Emily Lykens, 18, is accused of taking a shoebox with marijuana, pills, scales and other paraphernalia from her home while Altoona police were waiting for a search warrant at 109 Cherry Ave., according to charges filed before Magisterial District Judge Daniel DeAntonio.

Lykens walked out of the home at 2:22 a.m. Saturday with a juvenile and the shoebox, according to police who were watching the residence until the search warrant was obtained.

Lykens allegedly walked down the 100 block of Cherry Avenue and turned right onto Second Street before putting the box beneath a tree on the grounds of Irving Elementary School.
