Christian Wilkins returns from COVID-19 reserve list; Dolphins may have issues at tailback due to injuries

Miami Dolphins defensive tackle Christian Wilkins returned to practice on Wednesday, and was removed from the team’s COVID-19 reserve list.

That means the Dolphins will regain their 2019 first-round pick, who has started 20 of the 24 games he’s played the past two seasons.

Before being sidelined two games, Wilkins had contributed 28 tackles, one sack, one interception, recovered one fumble and deflected five passes in the eight games he’s played.

His return provides the Dolphins depth at the inside spots on their defensive line, which had become problematic because only Raekwon Davis and Zach Sieler were the true defensive tackles on the active roster. The Dolphins had called up Benito Jones from the practice squad for four games, including this week, to make it through the recent stretch of games without Wilkins and Davon Godchaux, who suffered what appears to be a season-ending biceps injury earlier this season.
